Manila
mayor Isko Moreno’s actively cleaning up his jurisdiction s bound to have
comparisons with the other local governments units within the metro.
Quezon
city residents has been calling out their local officials, asking when will Quezon
city be clean up and organized, which puts the spotlight to the local chief
executive Joy Belmonte.
Belmonte

to put out the criticism being thrown at her for the “non-existence” of any
rehabilitation efforts in Quezon city.

"Hindi naalala ng mga tao
yata na iyung ibang (people seem to forget that other) local governments are
much smaller than Quezon City... I'm begging for the indulgence of our
listeners given this situation. However, we are acting on it already," she
told DZMM during her exclusive interview.
"This is a marathon, not a
sprint. Napakaimportante para sa akin na may maayos na plano tayo (it is very
important for me that we have a proper plan), we have full information, that we
bring in the help of the stakeholders, the citizens, especially iyung
barangay,' she added.
Belmonte said she will convene the
traffic management council "to plot out a strategy" and assign a
point person that will give regular updates on every area.
The lady mayor said she has
also ordered an inventory of the city's 400 traffic enforcers and plans to add
200 more.
She also said that she spent
her 1st month of office studying and examining
which city departments should
be scrapped or relieved of some of their duties.
"I wanted to do good
housekeeping. Iyung tahanan na iniwan sa atin, medyo messy s'ya. Kinailangan ko
lang talagang ayusin ang tahanan natin para siguraduhing tumatakbo s'ya nang
maayos," the local chief executive said.
"By next week, makikita na
ako ng mga taumbayan (I will be seen by the public), I will be going around,
that's my promise to them. Don' worry, you'll see changes in the next 60
days," she added.
