Manila Mayor Isko Moreno is so busy implementing laws
and rules for the city of Manila.
Lifting another play from the Davao city playbook,
the newly elected official wants the processing of licenses and permits in Manila automated before the end of the month.
The local government has not yet threshed out the details
as to how this will be implemented but said that utility works in Manila would
have to be coordinated through the local government to avoid public
inconvenience.

Target date of the city’s automation will be this
coming July 24, according to a statement from the Manila City Hall.
National government
agencies and private utility groups must submit their year-long expansion and
rehabilitation plans to the Manila City Hall, Moreno said in a meeting with
stakeholders.
Constructing water
lines, phone lines, lamp posts and roads beyond contract periods will soon be
prohibited in Manila, he said.
"Kung ang nasa
contract period ay 120 days, tapusin ninyo ng 120 days. Sabihin ninyo 'yan sa
mga kontraktor ninyo. Once extended, dagdag perwisyo yan," the mayor told
attendees.
(If the contract period
is 120 days, you have to finish the project in 120 days. Tell your contractors
that if you extend, that is added inconvenience.)
