De Lima to Pres. Duterte : Stop Whining and Resign

Stop whining!
President Rodrigo Roa Duterte’s fierciest critic, detained opposition senator Leila De Lima said the former should "stop whining and do his job or resign,"saying that he can let others run the country.

"Duterte whines and cries about the state of the nation like a bawling baby. A real President would know that he is the least of all people who has the right to complain," De Lima said in a statement.

"Either you(Duterte) stop whining and do your job, or resign and let others take over the serious business of running the country," she said.
During the 4th State of the Nation Address (SONA) of Duterte said he was ‘tired” of running the country after a group of people advised him to build a casino inside Nayong Pilipino, a state-run theme park with replicas of notable natural wonders and heritage houses in the country.
"Kaya ko sinabi --- t*** i** ninyo. Anong kahulugan ng Nayong Pilipino kung lagyan mo ng sugalan and without a bidding?...Sabi ko wala ako... I --- I'm tired. I'm tired and I am... Talagang gusto ko na rin mag-resign. Sabi ko I am not happy anymore," Duterte said in his annual address.

De Lima, claimed Duterte’s actions “encourage” corruption instead of stopping it.
"Corruption does not stop by simply telling the plunderers to stop. Neither is it stopped by reinstating the death penalty. It is stopped by prosecuting and jailing thieves in government, instead of freeing them. Even if Duterte forces a hundred public officials to resign, if he does not prosecute and jail a single one, it will not stop corruption," De Lima said.
De Lima reiterated that Duterte being alone cannot solve the corruption.
"For the nth time, Duterte must be told that his being President alone does not stop corruption. An anti-corruption program needs a comprehensive institutionalized approach, supposedly with institutions that Duterte has undermined one by one, thereby demolishing the system of checks and balance and the rule of law," the senator said.

De Lima said Duterte should "know that he is the least of all people who has the right to complain."
