’We’re lucky to have a warrior President’ - Sen. Imee Marcos

Senator elect Imee Marcos cannot be forever be quiet and not say anything when all the criticisms and bad remarks are being hurled at president Rodrigo Roa Duterte.

The President has been at the receiving end of accusations of being to soft in dealing with China or Pro-China in dealing with the June 9 ramming and sinking of a  Filipino fishing boat by a Chinese vessel near Recto Bank which located in the West Philippine Sea.

The former Ilocos Norte governor, was quoted in saying that “Filipinos are fortunate to have a “warrior President”.

“Alam naman natin na matapang si Presidente. Maswerte tayo may warrior President tayo. Pero at the same time, bilang isang magaling na mandirigma, hindi naman siya lalaban sa talo,” she said. “Kaya maingat siya at sa palagay ko tama ang kanyang ginagawa.”

Duterte, she said, had always been firm, contrary to what his detractors are saying.

The senator surmised the President just had his own reasons that would explain his actions towards China.

“I think it’s probably a very judicious use of power, very well thought out and calculated,” she said.

Despite left and right President Duterte conceded that the country cannot stop China from fishing inside the Philippines’ exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ).

“We cannot drive them away because they have insisted that it’s theirs,” he said.
