Morales on her 4hr detention in HK : That's Bullying!

Former Ombudsman Conchita Morales had a rude awakening upon her arrival in Hong Kong.
She was barred from entering the country and was detained for sometime before she was allowed to enter HongKong, which eventually she decided to just go back home in the Philippines.

She has described her ordeal as bullying from the Hong Kong authorities.

Yes, that was bullying. How do you call it if it’s not bullying?” she told reporters after arriving at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport yesterday.

Morales was given by the Hong Kong authorities the reason “immigration reasons” as the reason for her detention.
However she was not given any reasons as to explaining the grounds for her 4 hour detention.
“They did not tell me anything about it. “I was insisting that they give me the ground. They said nothing,” Morales said.

Morales was also asked to sign a document written in Tagalog. She asked for the English version of the document, on which she found out that she was under detention.

“I read it and then it said ‘detention,’ and of course, the detention I was thinking of was behind bars,” Morales said.

Morales was informed by the Hong Kong authorities that she would be immediately deported to the Philippines on boars a Philippine Airlines flight which will leave 6:00PM that same day.

Morales also said she refused to accept the food that was offered to her, for fear of being poisoned.

“Oh, they might poison me. I said: ‘I want bottled water,’” she said.

After hours in detention, Morales was eventually allowed to enter Hong Kong. But she refused the offer.

“They said: ‘Now you can be allowed entry in Hong Kong.’ After what happened, they would do that to me?” she said.

The former Ombudsman believes the denial of her entry has something to do with the communication she jointly filed with former Department of Foreign Affairs Secretary Albert del Rosario charging Chines President Xi Jinping ““atrocious actions of Chinese officials in the South China Sea and within Philippine territory.”
