Minority ponders how to be relevant in the next Congress

And now there are only four.
Down from being a six minority group, with the complete shut out of their allies in the Liberal led coalition Otso Diretso, they are now consolidating themselves as a valuable asset for the upcoming 18th Congress.
The result of the recent mid term election, is an advantage to the Chief Executive because now he can consolidate all his allies as he pushes for all his legislative priorities with or little hurdle.

Gone with the minority block are Senators Bam Aquino and Antonio Trillanes, left to be the so called “fiscalizers” are senators Franklin Drilon, Risa Hontiveros,Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan, and detained senator Leila de Lima.
Drilon said he believes that the minority would continue to have a “good relationship with the leadership of this Congress.”
“Senate President [Vicente] Sotto [III] has been treating us fairly and has given us the appropriate respect as members of the minority,” Drilon told mediamen.
“The rules and the tradition of the Senate will always recognize the voice of the minority. There is no railroading in the Senate,” he said.
In a dispatch detained senator Leila de Lima called the loss of the Otso Diretso slate a hard painful reality to take.
De Lima said she could not understand how the “objectively undeserving” won in the polls, especially when this would result in “the consolidation of power and control in one man,” something “history has taught us to avoid, and what our laws and constitutional set-up were designed to prevent.”
“But we should not give up. Because this fight is perhaps the most important fight of our entire history as a nation. We are fighting for our future, our children’s future. We are fighting for our soul as a nation,” she said.
