It
pays to be a movie star in the Philippines.
The
country has always been since time in memorial enamored with celebrities so
much so that some of them easily gets elected to national positions principally
because of their celebrity status.
No
different is senatorial candidate Ramon “Bong” Revilla. The only difference is
he is still facing graft charges and his former chief aide remains in detention
for the crime of plunder.

What
pave the way for him to be able to seek a seat for senate was because he was
cleared of plunder late last year over the multi-billion pork barrel scam.
It
is because of this fact that worries some sectors of the public for his eventual
return to the upper house.
Revilla
has denied these baseless accusations that he would plunder the state coffers
and would just do the “budots” dance if elected as senator, adding he was
eyeing a senate seat to continue the reforms he initiated before.
“Hindi
po ako magnanakaw at hindi po ako masamang tao,”Bong Revilla, who was among the lawmakers tagged in
the multi-million peso pork barrel scam, told DWIZ radio in an interview.
“Tayo ay magperform
sa Senado. Hindi tayo magsasayaw lang diyan,” he added in response to critics
online who are making fun of his political advertisement, where he danced to
“budots” to woo voters while other Senate bets flaunted their achievements in
their campaigns.
