Customs exceeds collection goal for April, posts P53.33 billion




Good news from the Bureau of Customs!
Customs Commissioner Rey Leonardo Guererro announced that the bureau has exceeded its revenue collection target for April, posting P53.33 billion collection.

It was 3.3 percent higher than the P51.604 billion target for the month, BOC chief Guerrero said.

“The Bureau was expected to collect P51.604 billion in April, but because of our stringent monitoring and continuing efforts to enhance our revenue collection capabilities, we were able to collect P53.33 billion which is higher than the target revenue,” Guerrero said.
According to BOC’c financial service, the collection in April this year is up by 14 percent compared to what was collected during the same period last year.

“In April 2018, we only collected P46.794 billion, but this year we exceeded our collection performance and even generated more than P1.726-billion surplus,” BOC chief  Guerrero noted.
12 of the 17ports for this month under the bureau have reached their respective collection goals.

Based from the BOC, the Manila International Container Port, Port of Limay, Port Ninoy Aquino International Airport, Port of Cagayan de Oro, Port of Subic, Port of Cebu, Port of Davao, Port of San Fernando La Union, Port of Iloilo, Port of Tacloban, Port of Zamboanga and Port of Legaspi achieved their revenue collection target.

Ports of Manila, Batangas, Surigao, Clark, Davao, and Aparri, on the other hand, failed to reach their collection goals.
Intensified control measures against undervaluation, misdeclaration and other forms of technical smuggling have been the areas were improved revenue collection performance have been emphasized by the BOC chief.
“I have given all the district collectors a stern order to closely monitor all the transactions in their respective ports to ensure that the correct duties and taxes are being paid and that customs laws, rules and regulations are being followed,” Guerrero stressed.
