Now
we are taking some sense for the poor state of our armed forces.
Politicians
and activists keeps on criticizing the administration of President Rodrigo Roa
Duterte and yet when the issue is presented that we increase the budget of our
military- all they can do is protest and howl about the government preparing
for a revolutionary set up.
Then
how can we defend and secure our vast natural resources in terms of the
maritime scope of a country that is an archipelago. And the fact that we also
have a territorial despite in the West Philippine Sea.

Current
Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro Locsin Jr. last week gave an insight what the
country should start to do.
He
said the Philippines must begin focusing on national defense and start buying
warships and missiles.
He
made the statement after a netizen expressed hope that the Philippine Navy
would be able to send a boat to the Rim of the Pacific event this year.
“I
just hope the Philippine Navy participate in Rim of the Pacific event with a
boat this year as I remember back in 2014 where they only sent 2 personnel
without even a bangka [boat],” the netizen said in a tweet.
“They
should also focus on obtaining medical ships for disaster relief and
life-saving operations,” the netizen added.
Locsin
in his reply tweet said that the government should start considering focusing
on national defense.
“It is time we get warships and
missiles. It is time we stop whining about natural disasters and doing
something about national defense,” Locsin said.
