Bishop David on Halalan 2019: Will your vote be for Jesus or Barabbas?

Even at the time of lent, there is politics.

It was supposed to be devoted to the suffering and death of our lord Jesus Christ, then Caloocan Bishop Pablo Virgilio David asked the faithful who they are going to choose in the upcoming midterm elections: Jesus or Barabbas.

In his Facebook account he reminded the faithful how Pontius Pilate was given the choice between Jesus and Barabbas.

"Pontius Pilate gave them a chance to vote. It was a choice between Jesus and Barabbas. They elected Barabbas, and had Jesus crucified," David said.
"Will your vote in May be for Jesus, or for Barabbas?"
At that time Pilate was the ruling governor of Judea, which is under the Roman empire, and as governor he is responsible for presiding over the trial and execution of Jesus.

As per the bible, it was tradition that Pilate is bound to release a prisoner by popular acclaim- which happens to be Barabbas a known murdered, bandit, and a participant in political insurrection.

Despite Pilate’s reluctance to send Jesus to his death, he had to give way to the people’s demand when they chose Barabbas to be sent free instead of Jesus.

"Para sa ating mga alagad ni Kristo, ang pamumuno ay dapat gawin sa diwa ng pagiging alipin, pagiging lingkod. Dahil ang Panginoon mismo ay naparito hindi upang paglingkuran kundi upang maglingkod," the bishop added in another Facebook post for Holy Thursday.
Bishop David is known to be one of the vocal critics of the President.
The President in one of his retaliations accused David of stealing church donations and even called him “son of a whore.”
David has defended her mother, his tribute for her mother even went viral.
