Albayalde says PNP willing to safeguard clerics receiving death threats

Philippine National Police (PNP) Police General Oscar Albayalde said they are willing to safeguard and or provide security for Catholic leaders who have received death threats.
"Sinabi na nga ng ating presidente na protektahan ang mga pari (Our president said to protect priests). Give them protection," Albayalde said in an ambush.

Albayalde made this remark following the revelation of Caloocan Bishop Pablo Virgilio David, one of the vocal critic of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte’s illegal drug war, that he has been receiving death threats from unknown people since two weeks ago.
However PNP Chief believes the threats to church leaders has nothing to do with the threats received by David.
"I don't think na mismong manggaling naman sa presidente 'yung threat (the threats came directly from the President)."
