“And
then this March makukuha na natin ung corvette from South Korea so baka
madeliver na yun. Papunta na kasi yun personnel natin for training by January.
So kung March or April matatapos, meron na tayong gagamitin,” Empedrad said.
The
transfer has been delayed because of fund requirements, where it not the
delivery should have been done June of last year.
The
transfer process was estimated to cost at around P250 million.
The ship’s original guns and sonar
detection systems would be included in the transfer, Empedrad added.
The
Navy is expected to assigned this ship with the Offshore Combat Force (OCF) of
the Philippine Fleet, and will be the primary anti-submarne warfare (ASW)
platform of the service until the introduction of other ASW-capable units.
