Bullying in any form has no place in a civilized society.
So when the different videos of an Ateneo student bullying his peers hit
the internet there were no love lost in condemning the act.
And since this issue involves an Ateneo student much is to be expected
since the society has put that school in such a high pedestal.
Philippines' Taekwondo legend Monsour del Rosario and ADMU's |
But further investigation of the bullying incident revealed that bully
is actually a taekwondo practitioner makes it much worse.
A poor representation of the ideals of this martial art.
Monsour del Rosario the only non-Korean inductee in the Taekwondo Hall
of Fame has made his thoughts known regarding this matter.
And he is open in suggesting and recommending that the kid be stripped
of his belt and banned from the Taekwondo organization.
Below is his full FaceBook post:
I've received literally hundreds of texts and calls in the last
24 hours from our colleagues in the press and personal friends asking for a
statement on the bullying incident that took place in Ateneo recently.
The amount of messages increased exponentially after it was
revelaed that the young bully is an alleged taekwondo black belt and gold
medalist.
My official statement:
Yes, none of us are perfect -- we've all made our mistakes and
should not judge people loosely. But to the parents of the bully, let's be very
clear here, this is as firm a judgement as you will ever get from me: Your son
is a FAILED representation of our beautiful sport.
Every aspect of the viral video was hideous, weak and
unacceptable.
RAISE YOUR CHILDREN BETTER. LET'S ALL RAISE OUR CHILDREN TO BE
BETTER. LET'S RAISE OUR SONS -- PARTICULARLY THOSE IN THE MARTIAL ARTS -- TO BE
GOOD MEN.

REMOVING HIM JOAQUIN MOSTES,JR FROM THE PTA WILL BE THE RIGHT ULTIMATE DICISION.We congratulate you all if that will be implemented early as possible. Since my two kids also Taekwondo blackbelters they are highly respecting the sense of personal disciplin being tough by PTA.
ReplyDeleteYep, he needs to be stripped off his title as a Taekwondo black belter. He needs to learn a lesson.
