Sandiganbayan re PDAF Scam : Bong Revilla- Acquitted, Janet Napoles- Guilty

Insufficient evidence to prove the plunder as against former senator Bong Revilla, was the meat of the decision of the Sandiganbayan in its acquittal.

All of that is the senator’s alleged involvement in the multi-billion peso Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) or “pork barrel” fund scam.

After being cleared of the plunder case, revilla immediately posted  a P480,000 bail for the remaining 16 counts of graft  before the Clerk of Court of the Sandiganbayan First Division.

Napoles- GUILTY

The happy story would not extend to businesswoman “PDAF Queen” Janet Napoles and Revilla’s former chief of staff, Richard Cambe, as they have been found guilty of plunder.

As per the complaint submitted in the Sandiganbayn, Napoles is the alleged “brains” behind the PHP10-billion pork barrel and the PHP900-million Malampaya Fund scams.

Sandiganbayan sentenced the two with reclusion perpetua or a maximum of 40 years of imprisonment.

Janet Napoles will be detained at the Correctional Institution for Women in Mandaluyong city, while Richard Cambe will head to the New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa city.

The court ordered the accused to return P124.5 million to the government.
"Pursuant to Article 100 of the Revised Penal Code, accused are held solidarily and jointly liable to return to the National Treasury the amount of P124.5 million," court said.
