President Rodrigo Roa Duterte did promise the Philippine National Police
that if they do their mandated duty, he will always back them up.
And it seems the President is making sure this one will not pass.

The report has reached the President that Iloilo Rep. Oscar “Richard”
Garin Jr. and his father, Guimbal Mayor Oscar Garin allegedly slapped and beat a
police officer while being held at gun point.
Duterte ordered the police officer PO3 Federico Macaya to file a
complaint against father and son, Iloilo Rep. Oscar “Richard” Garin Jr. and his

The father and son allegedly disarmed Macaya, conducted a body search,
handcuffed him, seized his belongings, and while being held at gunpoint, hit
him.
“Kung may kasalanan man ang police, its not a reason especially a police
officer na bugbugin mo, so I will look into it,” Duterte told mediamen in Albay after
visiting the wake of Rep. Rodel Batocabe.
“So they will have to file the case, direct assault, we will file
charges,” the President added.
Duterte ordered Department of Interior
and Local Government Secretary Eduardo Año to look into the incident and file
proper charges against the lawmakers.
“I will ask General Año to take
a look, investigate. But I am not urging him, I am ordering him to file a case
agaisnt the two,” Duterte said.
