The Philippines’ newest Ms. Universe in Catriona Gray is seen to be of
big help not only to the charities she is involved with, but to the country as
well.
The Department of Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo- Puyat sees brighter
days for the country travel industry in 2019 after Filipino beauty queen won

The DOT secretary said not only Gray’s win, she also showed the universe
her strength as a woman and the beauty of the Philippines in all her video
clips that helped promote the country’s culture and famous tourist
attractions.
One popular series of video clips filmed before the staging of the Ms.
Universe 2018 pageant in Thailand, is the “My Motherland” videos showing and
ultimately promoting unique tourist attractions of Luzon, Visayas, and
Mindanao.
For Luzon’s Rizal Park, Fort Santiago, churches in Intramuros and the
world-renowned Palawan. She also showed the resilience of Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) survivors in
Tacloban City and Mindanao’s multi-faceted South Cotabato.
The beauty queen from Oas, Bicol also showed the country’s artistic side
through her national costume.
“Throughout the Miss Universe competition, Miss Gray evoked the Filipino
people’s essential attributes of friendliness, cheerfulness, hospitality and
kindness when she was around the representatives of different nations,” read a
DOT statement.
