Satur Ocampo with 73 others arrested in Davao del Norte for human trafficking

Its their word against the authorities, and as of now they seem to have the upper hand since media outlets have already made its another transgression by the government troops.

Former Bayan Muna Partylist representative Satur Ocampo and 72 others were arrested by the police in Talaingod, Davao Del Norte for alleged human trafficking.

Accompanying Ocampo is ACT Teachers Rep. France Castro.

ACT representative, Antonio Tinio explains that both Ocampo and Castro joined other human right groups for a “solidarity mission” to support students and teachers of a lumad school that was forcibly  shut down by the 56thInfantry Battalion of the Philippine Army.

Police regional Office (PRO) 11 said they were arrested at about 9pm at a checkpoint operation by joint forces of the Philippine National Police and the Philippine Army in Barangay Palma Gil.

Fourteen minors, aged  14 to 17 years old,  were rescued on board rented vans. The group allegedly came from Salugpungan Learning Center, a community school in the area, said Chief Insp. Jason Baria, spokesman of PRO11.

Baria said the arrest stemmed from a complaint filed with the police by the tribal leaders who said that they were just protecting their community.

“The tribal leaders are questioning why every night, they pull out children without the permission from the parents,” the chief inspector said.

Representative Tinio gives a different story altogether- “Last night, we were stopped at a military road block, the solidarity mission convoy was attacked by men believed to be members of the paramilitary group known as Alamara.

Tires of some of their vehicles were spiked, the windshield of the van ridden by Rep. Castro and Ka Satur was broken, and gunshots were fired in their vicinity.”

Ocampo, Castro and their companions are charged with Republic Act 7610 in relation to child abuse, exploitation, and discrimination.
Ocampo, four months ago was arrested by a PNP manhunt against him and other leftist personalities in connection to a murder case filed 12 years ago.

  2. This people should be stopped immediately, they are playing with our future generation and using the tribal community to do their dirty works. They should not be shielding our democratic constitution when they are practicing openly the communist doctrine, dapat yung communist way din ang pag treat sa kanila... they are wasting the people's money campaigning against the current government.. why are the current Administration letting them roam around the country doing such act of violence and communistic act and fabricating stories that they are being violated. Stop them once and for all!
