Leni Robredo , solicited and got foreign campaign funds in her 2013 Congressional run

This is something you did not know about Vice President Maria Leonor Robredo.

She is accused for having violated Section 96 of the Omnibus Election Code, which specifically prohibits solicitation or receiving funds from foreign donors.

In 2013, congressional race she and her rival (of the Villafuerte clan) were gunning for the Camarines Sur seat in the House of Representatives.

Two cases have been filed against Robredo in 2013 by former Camarines Sur Representative Luis Villafuerte and his wife- Nelly who lost to Robredo that same year.

The Leni Robredo –Loida Lewis connection

In the destabilization plots being hurled against President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, the name Loida Lewis comes up.

The Villafuertes in the complaint they submitted to COMELEC, they alleged that Robredo had solicited and received campaign funds/donations from at least seven (7) American nationals, among them is Loida Nicolas Lewis, and three (3) American entities.

Nelly Villafuerte was able to present as proof the receipt of the donations from the foreign individuals and entities that was acknowledge by Robredo in her Facebook account.

The second complaint filed by Luis Villafuerte alleged in his complaint that Robredo is guilty of non reporting to COMELEC of the names of those who actally contributed to her campaign funds.

In her counter affidavit, Robredo disowned Lewis as her agent to solicit campaign funds in her behalf but admitted Lewis turned over to her Lewis’ personal contributions and that no other contributions came from other foreign donors.

The Villafuerte couple explains that Lewis was born a Filipino  but was an American citizen when she made her donation to Leni Robredo , thus a direct violation of the Omnibus Election Code.

Robredo maintains that Lewis made use of her name in the solicitation of campaign funds but the latter was not authorized to do so, even after the Liberal party stalwart acknowledge receipt
