Duterte red carpet welcome of Chinese President an invitation for China to rule the West PH Sea- Hilbay

Former Solicitor General and now senator aspirant Florin Hilbay slams President Rodrigo Roa Duterte for the red carpet welcome of Chinese president Xi Jinping.

Hilbay who is part of the opposition magic 8 has made known his disgust with the policies of President Duterte most especially its handling of the West Philippine Sea island grabbing issue most especially how Duterte is (or the lack of it ) using the ruling the country won at the Hague tribunal.

The Chinese president will be in the country from Nov 20-21, it will be the first state visit of XI Jinping to the country, and for China since 2005- this is but an act of reciprocating the state visit made earlier by President Duterte himself when he visited China.

Hilbay described the historic visit to the Philippine by Chinese President xi Jinping  as for President Duterte rolling out the red carpet for China to rule over the West Philippine Sea.

The former Solicitor General also lashes out the proposed joint exploration deal between the Philippines and China being illegal and unconstitutional. He claims that the terms for the joint exploration deal with the Asian giant and the proposed lifting of the oil exploration ban in the disputed waters are expected to be one of the topics to be discussed during Xi’s visit.

"Our victory meant we could uphold our economic sovereignty and have full control over the resources in that area which, according to the 2016 Hague ruling, is not shared with China. Under our Constitution, it constitutes part of our national territory.  But a joint agreement with China is essentially a waiver of the decision in Philippines v. China. For Duterte to bargain this away and let China have their own way over our natural resources is a complete betrayal of the trust that the Filipino people gave him in May 2016," senatorial aspirant added.
