DILG Sec. slams Robredo, Bam Aquino, & Joma Sison et.al. over interpretation of MO 32

Department of Interior and Local Government  Secretary Eduardo Año slammed critics of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte’s Memorandum Order 32.
Vice President Maria Leonor “Leni” Robredo , partymate Bam Aquino, and Communist Party of the Philippines founder Jose Maria Sison has prejudged the MO 32 and calls it a threat to democracy since they alleged it is a prelude to the declaration of martial law nationwide. Media has taken all their respective statements into the headlines tantamount to creating fear among the citizenry.

Año addressed the opposition and communist rebels regarding the MO 32, should not be interpreted as a way for the President to have the whole country under martial law rule.
“Martial law will not be declared in the country. What MO 32 will do, on the other hand, is to focus military and police presence in those areas where insurgents are active,” Año said.
He calls the critics of MO 32 as those who judt want to put the administration  in a bad light.
“The opposition and communists are reading too much into the Order and are intentionally trying to instill fear or panic among the Filipinos,” the DILG secretary said.

Año clarifies that the principal purpose of MO 32 is just to facilitate the movement of government troops from other parts of the country to Bicol, Samar, and Negros Island.
He points that only the enemies of democracy are fearful of President Duterte’s directive to suppress violence in some parts of the country.
“The communist terrorist groups and their front organizations are crying foul over this because they know for certain that they will be decimated by government forces once these troops are deployed,” Sec. Año said.
He gave the assurance to the public  that government troops will be observing utmost respect to the rights of civilians and will not lead to human rights abuses in the carrying out of the MO 32.
