‘AFP, PNP solidly behind Duterte’ - Lorenzana

No coup will happen under the Duterte administration.

The whole military  organization is solidly behind their Commander in Chief, the non-compliance of the Armed Forces of the Philippines to the call of the President to join forces with opposition senator Antonio Trillanes IV-shows  confidence in their loyalty.

“What I see in him is that he’s very comfortable with the support of the military and the police. I feel it that way. I think it’s just a dare,” Lorenzana said during the sidelines of the awarding of US Congressional Gold Medal to 13 Filipino World War II at the US embassy in Manila.

During the one on one televised interview with Chief Legal Counsel Salvador Panelo, Duterte on multiple occasions slammed the senator and even dared the military if they believe allegations against him to join forces with him and Magdalo group and launch a coup. Duterte even claims that the Liberal party is in cahoots with the communists.

Lorenzana said both Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) are stable institutions, and are satisfied with the way the President is running the country. The Department of the Interior and Local Government has the supervision over the PNP.

Presidential spokesman Harry Roque Jr., President Duterte’s act of challenging the military to launch the coup against his administration should be taken as a way of discrediting Trillanes.

“As I said, I think the proper context is that he’s making the challenge because he’s sure they won’t get support,” Roque said.

“But he’s saying ‘I’m not clinging to this position. Do whatever you want to do,’” spokesperson Roque said.

“But I think the President, by saying so, remains confident that there is no threat to his administration,” Roque pointed out.

Roque said the President was also expressing his confidence the military would never collude with communist groups to have him ousted.
