GMA supports call to extend martial law in Mindanao following the Sultan Kudarat blast

The current numbers would show that there are 36 hurt and 2 killed by the explosion of an improvised bomb in Sultan Kudarat.

The treacherous way of how it was done, is as if it really targeted civilians in the area.

I support martial law in Mindanao,” Arroyo said in an ambush interview after the blessing of the Romana Pangan District Hospital in Pampanga.

“ I support what the President does because I’ve been president and I believe that he does not need a peanut gallery to tell him what to do”, Speaker GMA said.

Yesterday Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea made a statement that the option of extending the effectivity of martial law in Mindanao following the Sultan Kudarat blast.

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque also said that they are open to this option.

It can be recalled that President Duterte first declared martial law in Mindanao on May 23, 2017 after the Islamic inspired Maute group attacked the Islamic City of Marawi.

Congress later extended it until the end of 2018.

VP Robredo opposes any extension of ML

Vice President Leni Robredo opposed the option of extending the martial law effectivity in Mindanao. Saying it failed to prevent terror attacks in the region.

“Ito kasi may martial law sa Mindanao pero nakita natin over the past months, hindi ito nagiging hadlang para ‘yung karahasan ma-prevent, nagkaroon tayo ng bombing sa Lamitan, ito na naman sa Sultan Kuldarat, patuloy pa din, patuloy ‘yung mga terrorist activities,” Robredo said in an ambush interview

“Ano ang assurance natin na kapag inextend yung martial law talagang mapeprevent ito?” she asked. “Kung ang pagbabasehan ang mga nakaraang pangyayari, pinapakita na hindi epektibo ‘yun.
