Duterte thinks Chiz or Bongbong can replace him but not Leni

Bongbong or Chiz?

Recently the President made a statement that he mulling of stepping down as chief executive of the land because of his many frustrations regarding corruption plaguing the country, and he has named Senator Chiz Escudero and former senator Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. are the names he would to succeed him.

Liberal Party stalwart and former Senate President Franklin Drilon immediately made a public statement that there is no other option for the President, and that by operation of law- as provided in the 1987 Constitution’s law on Presidential succession it is the Vice President who will succeed the President in this case – Maria Leonor “Leni” Robredo.

"Wala pong option sa ating Saligang Batas. Kung magbitiw po ang Pangulo, ang Pangalawang Pangulo ang mag-assume ng position," Drilon told mediamean.

It maight be remembered a few weeks back that the President said he will not step down just to let Leni Robredo take his place as President of the Republic because she is “incompetent.”

Senate President Vicente (tito) Sotto III said President Duterte might have been saying his random thought principally because of frustrations but he believes Duterte will not surrender.

"Nasasabi lang niya 'yon. Siguro dahil nga pagod (That might be musings because of exhaustion)."

When asked if  the president resigns, Sotto answering to a theoretical question, said the government will run as usual.

"As I've said, our government is stable, may system, may structure ang gobyerno natin, kahit sinong nakaupo tatakbo 'yan (As I've said, our government is stable, the government has a system and a structure, it will run as usual no matter who is in the position)," he said.

In a dinner engagement with the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas (KBP) officials earlier this week, the President said Vice President Leni Robredo does not have what it takes to lead the country.

"Hindi niya kaya, that's my honest opinion ko lang. Kung na-sino lang sana diyan, in the likes of (Chiz) Escudero or Bongbong Marcos," Duterte said.

In the Go Negosyo event , Duterte also made a statemet about his little confidence on the capability of Robredo to be the Chief Executive of the country.

"Wala akong galit kay (Leni) Robredo. Panalo na ako," Duterte said.

"Hindi ako nakikipag-away ng babae. Hindi nga ako sumasagot kung ano ang sinasabi nila. But sinabi ko, I think deep in my heart, if you follow the succession and Robredo takes over, hindi niya kaya," he added. (CNN Phils)

  1. I don't believe that a strong leader like PRRD will step down because of exhaustion from tackling the challenges our country is facing. But if it will really happen then the law on succession will apply as what piggy Drilon claimed. When it comes to the fight against corruption in government and criminality let's play deduction and come-up with the right politician who can handle the job effectively and efficiently. Considering the law on succession and the VP will assume the vacancy the question is: "Who is Leni Robredo when it comes to fighting corruption?" Can she really handle the heavy task considering her role in the 2016 Comelec-Smartmatic election fraud? Aside from fighting the grave problem of corruption, does VP Robredo has done good or contributed for the success of PRRD'S government programs especially in the war against drugs and criminality? #ResignLeniRobredo and do it now.

  2. When Marcos was forcefully and unconstitutionally removed from office via the yellow's people power or EDSA I, and was flown to Hawaii by the Yanks, the lawfully installed VP was Arturo Tolentino. Why was he not allowed to assume the presidency, when he should be the rightful successor to Marcos under the Constitution? If you now claim that Tolentino's becoming a VP was questionable, well, how about Leni's, it's even worst.
