Sereno remains 'undecided' on Senate run despite meeting with VP Robredo

Still undecided.

With still three months left before the filing of certificate of candidacy, ousted chief justice Maria Lourdes Sereno is taking her time in making up her mind whether or not she is going to pursue an elective position this coming 2019 mid term election.

One of Sereno’s spokesperson Atty. Jojo Lacanilao, reveals that Sereno still has not made up her mind after meeting with Vice President Maria Leonor “Leni” Robredo.

“There is no decision yet whether she will run in the senatorial election or not.”

Last week, the Vice President told media that she already met with Sereno and they were able to discuss for the first time the latter’s possibility of joining the opposition slate that will run for senator next year.Robredo also told the media that Sereno raised some concerns and has sought for more time to decide.

Robredo, however said the ousted chief justice remains to be true to her word that she will continue to fight the dictatorship, the creeping authoritarianism and for judicial reforms.

Last month, Sereno slammed President Duterte for his "blasphemous, self-styled dictator" actions which has weakened the country’s democratic institutions. And has made a public pronouncement that despite being ousted as top magistrate of the country she will continue to defend the laws of the land and institutions and uphold the dignity of every Filipino.

Opposition Senator Bam Aquino, also urged the ousted chief justice along with outgoing Ombudsman Conchita Morales-Carpio to  join the opposition slate this coming 2019 mid term elections, because the opposition needs strong and independent women who can speak their mind.

“Why not? Alam mo kung mayroon kang mga tao na handang tumutol, handang magsalita, handang maging independent, palagay ko all of them will be good members of the opposition slate, kailangan namin iyon,” Aquino said.
