Duterte to bad cops: There’ll be ‘project’ to ‘neutralize or terminate you’

President Rodrigo Roa Duterte is making sure that the cleansing of the police ranks continues amid his brutal crackdown on criminality for the entire country.

Recent news involving policemen in extortion and kidnapping incidents prompted the President to remind the members of the Philippine National Police to shun away illegal activities because he will not tolerate any illegal activities perpetuated by any policemen. His reminder was also a warning to all the PNP personnel that he will “neutralize” and “terminate” anyone who is not loyal to his/her sworn duty as a police officer.

“Huwag kayong pumasok diyan sa droga, ‘yang mga murder-for-hire, kasi ipa-project ko rin kayo,” the President  said in a speaking engagement  in Pasay City.

(Don’t get involved in illegal drugs or murder-for-hire because I will make you a ‘project’, too.)

“You can be very sure there will be a project for you and really, that is to neutralize or terminate you,” Duterte also said.

Duterte reiterates the need to purge the police ranks of “scalawags” because if not “nothing will happen to the country” and “nobody seems to obey the law.”

Recently, a policeman was shot and killed and there were three arrested in Taguig City for their alleged involvement in kidnapping-extortion incident.

PNP Chief Albayalde weighs in

The Philippine National Police Director General Oscar Albayalde is not taking the different reports involving PNP personnel all involved in illegal activities, he reminded all his men that the internal cleansing in the PNP would also be “chilling” and “deadly.’

“We will be as chilling, as deadly, in our cleansing program,”  PNP Director General Albayalde said during an awarding ceremony for personnel of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO).

“When we say deadly, we will be sharp in identifying these scalawags in uniform,” Albayalde said.

“Yung iba sa inyo na pasaway, there will come a time na tatamaan din kayo,”  PNP Chief  also said.

(To you who are unruly, there will come a time when you will face the consequences.)

The PNP Chief during his speech said that if there are PNP personnel that could’nt follow the rules of their organization, it will better for them to just resign and save the image of the police to the public.

Let us effectively remove them from our ranks. Let us show to the public that we are capable of change, […] that we are a professional police service,” PNP Chief Albayalde said.
