It seems Vice-President Maria Leonor “Leni” Robredo is now singing a different tune.
Being the highest elected official form the Liberal Party, she
has no choice but to carry the torch so to speak for her beloved political
party so to speak. What was deemed a good combination of Rodrigo Duterte as
President and her the able wingman that can help the former was so short lived
when she resigned her Cabinet post as chair of the Housing and Urban
Development Coordinating Council.
She has been busy, not by what we can expect from the second
highest official of the land, but in criticizing the administration and in attending the electoral protest filed
against her by former Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos. Some quarters deemed
this scenario as a waste since she could have done more if she is in the
cabinet. *

"Ako, I'll be open to it but you know it is necessary
that we discuss things," Leni Robredo said.
"Perhaps I will tell the President that I will be very
much willing to work with him. I will be very much willing to support what he's
doing," she added. "But if there are things that I don't agree on,
kailangan ko talagang sabihin. Kung okay yun sa kanya, e di okay." she added.
Robredo was appointed by President Duterte as the chair Housing
and Urban Development Coordinating Council up until she decided to opt out in
December 2016. A simple text message from Cabinet Secretary Jun Evasco, Jr. was
sent to her in relaying the President’s instructon
for her to "to desist from attending all Cabinet meetings starting
December 5."
Robredo called that act of texting her “the last straw” from
a series of efforts to derail her from doing her job as the governments housing
czar. *
Robredo addressed her being outspoken regarding the
administrations controversial pronouncements and policies may have been taken
by the President’s ally the wrong way.
"Pero minamasama, siguro hindi siya mismo... marami
kasing nakapaligid na iba yung interpretation (of) things that I say, or
things that I do. And mahirap," she said.
She added
she was satisfied with her post, and she is honest to herself to believe that
there is no cabinet position that will be offered her way by the President.
"Pero
if that comes, kailangan siguro pag-usapan muna [But if that comes, we'll have
to talk about it first]," said Robredo.
