#ReadySet Go
The Special Assistant to the President Christopher “Bong” Go is in the
news. Media got it fanned when the Davao City Mayor Inday Sara Duterte-Carpio
made her public endorsement for Go’s senatorial bid. Go has been quoted many
times that he will serve President Rodrigo Roa Duterte “until death.”
"Pangako ko po sa Pamilyang Duterte pagsisilbihan ko po ang
kanilang ama habambuhay kahit saan man po kami pupulutin balang araw, dahil po
malaki ang utang na loob ko sa Pamilyang Duterte. Kahit saan man ako dalhin ng
aking kapalaran, sasamahan ko si Pangulong Duterte hanggang kamatayan," Go
said in a statement. *

It has been reported by Communications Secretary Martin Andanar has
heard President Duterte saying he will “support Bong Go to the hilt.”
Presidential Communications Assistant Secretary Margaux "Mocha"
Uson in her column in the Philippine Star wrote a well written article about
the Christopher “Bong” Go explaining whywe need a Bong Go in the Senate.
We have fully quoted the article written by Ms. Mocha Uson in her column
HOTSPOT titled “Bong is GO” in the Philippine Star that was published March 13,
2018 for our readers personal consumption.
It is too early to talk about the
next election. What’s more important for me is to focus on the fulfillment of
the promises of the President to uplift the lives of our countrymen.” – Special
Assistant to the President Christopher “Bong” Go.
Indeed, it may be too early to
talk about the 2019 senatorial elections, and yes, he is right in prioritizing
the duty to serve the President and the people like he said in several
statements. However, this doesn’t put out the clamor of Filipinos who are
urging him to seek a seat in the Senate.
Why? Because people are seeing SAP
Bong Go’s sense of duty, where serving the people for the betterment of the
country is always the top priority. His sense of duty might be one of the
reasons people are calling for him to run for senator, and to be honest, who
doesn’t want a senator who always puts the people’s needs before himself? *
We have seen SAP Bong Go during
the hearing on the Navy’s Frigate Acquisition Project, and while he was just
there to clear his name, we saw a man who handled himself well in front of
those who seek to nail him down. Combine that level of courage with his innate
dedication to serve the people and voila! You have the perfect concoction of
the ideal public servant.
Isn’t that what we need in all
branches of government: good public servants, instead of TRAditional
Politicians? Who would we rather have in the Senate, those who use their
position for their personal ambitions, OR someone who uses his power to do
exactly what they’ve been elected to do: serve the Filipino people?
For me, whether SAP Bong should
run or not, it’s a GO. He should run for senator so that the President would
have a real loyal ally in the legislative branch of government. As we have
witnessed several times, people come and go in politics and to achieve change
in our country, the President needs an ally in the Senate who is one with him
in working toward his vision of a better Philippines.
There are still a lot of changes
that we need to strive for, and I believe that having SAP Bong Go in the Senate
would help a lot in fast-tracking these changes. Should he decide to run for
senator, he may be considered a newbie in politics, but not in public service.
He has been with President Duterte for years and just like the man himself, SAP
Bong Go does not wane when it comes to serving the people. There’s simply no
stopping a GO when serving the nation. *
As we have witnessed during the
Senate hearing on the Navy’s Frigate Acquisition Project, SAP Bong Go is not
one to falter in despair of such issues – and in this context – character
assassination. Instead of the more convenient Executive Session, he opted for a
public hearing to show the nation that he has nothing to hide. It is very clear
that he is someone who always fights for what is true and what is right, and
that he is someone courageous enough to face his enemies head-on.
We have seen all sorts of
politicians. Some are different from others, but most of them only become
apparent during election season. It’s hard not to notice them when they go
around and brag about their so-called achievements. SAP Bong Go on the other
hand is not like that. He does not want publicity when doing his duties nor
does he want his actions to be labeled with his name. This, for me, is the kind
of person that we need in the Senate – the kind of servant we want in the
Senate.
Lastly, it is no secret that SAP
Bong Go has the trust of President Duterte, to the point that Tatay Digong
defended him when he was seemingly accused of corruption by some news outlets.
I trust the decision of the President and when SAP Bong Go said recently that
the choice is now up to the President on whether he should run for office, I’m
positive that Tatay Digong will listen to the call of his children: *
