I do not want to oust the President- Leni Robredo

The Vice President is sending a clear message to her detractors on the other side of the political fence.

In a CNN Philippines exclusive Vice President Maria Leonor Robredo set the record straight with respect to the conspiracy theories that is swirling around the country that she being the chair of the Liberal Party and the titular head of the opposition is out to get the presidency from President Rodrigo Duterte.

"Kasi Vice President ako, eh parating kinukulayan ng pulitika 'yung when I say things. Sasabihin ng iba na nagmamadali ka palitan 'yung Presidente," Robredo said.

CNN Philippines, asked the Vice President is she want to replace Duterte as president of the republic being the next in line and highest positioned opposition leader.

The Vice President is chairperson of opposition group Liberal Party. She has made it publicly known her differences in opinion with President Duterte on key issues, including human rights concerns in the war on drugs.

"And its unfortunate. When you voice out your dissent, it's because you want certain things happen and to change. It's not because you want to oust the President," she added.

Robredo also points out the pattern in the country’s women leaders in government, who are being subjected to greater struggles and scrutiny by the current administration.

"Sila 'yung mas vocal eh. Kaya 'yung mga kababaihan din 'yung nalalagay sa alanganin. Gaya niyan, sino ba 'yung mga vocal: si Senator Leila De Lima, Ombudsman (Conchita) Carpio Morales, si Chief Justice (Maria Lourdes) Sereno," the Vice President said.

Duterte in many occasions has lambasted De Lima, Morales and Sereno. Senator Leila De Lima is currently detained in the custodial center in Camp Crame for charges related to illegal drugs in the national penitentiary during her stint as Justice Secretary during the Aquino administration – is the most vocal critic of the president.  *

The President in a few occasions has threatened to file an impeachment case versus the Ombudsman for alleged corruption.

While the Chief Justice is currently facing an impeachment complaint in the House of Representatives committee on justice chaired by Representative Rey Umali for misdeclaration in her Statement of Assets and Liabilties and Networth among others.
