Ilocos Norte Governor Imee Marcos is in the headlines
recently- when she and brother former senator Bongbong Marcos was seen in the
Panagbenga parade in Baguio few days back.
The eldest daughter of former President Ferdinand Marcos was
controversial when she told reporters that there should be another Marcos in
national office.
The Marcos family is currently awaiting the result of the
electoral protest filed by Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., against Vice
President Leni Robredo, and the uncertainty was certainly making the Marcos
family thinking of sending another Marcos to run for national office. *

“The
electoral protest filed by Bongbong has not advanced so one of his other siblings
may be forced to seek national office, like me,” said Gov. Marcos.
“That’s what the family is contemplating,” Imee said on Saturday during the Panagbenga Festival in Baguio.

And
now the governor, was forced to clear her statement, because some quarters
speculated that the Marcos running for a national office is but a way of the
family to restore the legacy left by their father.
The
governor said she is confident that the legacy of her late father, former
president Ferdinand Marcos will “stand on its own.”
Her
decision to run for a national office in 2022 will have no effect on the legacy
of her father.
“Yung pagtakbo sa political office, wala namang kinalaman sa legacy iyon,”
she said.

Marcos added that her decision to run for national office

“Yung legacy,
mananatili yan kahit ano pang gawin mo, kahit anong tumbling pa sa politika,”
she added. *
Imee said the accomplishments of the late president are
proof of that legacy.
“Mananatili at mananatili yan sapagkat andiyan yung dam,
yung irrigation, yung rural rectification, yung mga highway. Lahat yan
mananatili eh.” The Ilocos Norte Gov. said.
“At the end of the day, his legacy will stand on its own
and will be judged generation after generation,” Marcos added.
