That’s what you call Independent Foreign Policy.
One of the policies laid down by President Rodrigo Roa
Duterte at the start of his administration is for the Philippines to pursue a truly
independent foreign policy. The country because of its close affinity to the Americans
have neglected to extend diplomatic ties to other countries with whom is
usually deemed as a rival of the United States of America.
President Duterte in direct contrast to the path taken by
his predecessor Benigno Aquino decided to re-connect with the Asian giant
knowing its geo-political importance in the economy of the country and the
world as a whole. *

China Foreign
Ministry Spokesperson Lu Kang voiced out
China’s support for the Philippines’ policy regarding how it handles its fight
against illegal drugs. This was done barely a week when the Office of the
United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights chief Zeid Ra’ad Al Hussein
suggested that Duterte should undergo a “psychiatric evaluation”.
China has called
on the international community to “respect” the country’s sovereignity and view
its policies objectively. China is one of the five permanent member of the
United Nations Security Council.
"Relevant sides of the international community, including the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, shall respect the sovereignty of the Philippines and the will of its people, view the outcomes of the Philippines' fight against drug and terrorism in a comprehensive, unbiased and objective way, and support its efforts to move forward its human rights cause in light of its national conditions," China Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Lu Kang said in a press briefing in Beijing.
"As an agency of the UN, the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights is expected to fulfill its duties within the framework set out by the purposes and principles of the UN Charter," he added. *
United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Chief made the statement when he takes it as an attack to the UNCHR, Duterte administration’s decision to include UN special rapporteur on the rights of indigenous peoples Victoria Tauli-Corpuz I the terror list. It was already clarified by Malacañang that the inclusion of Tauli-Corpuz was because of an intelligence report linking her to the to the Ilocos-Cordillera Regional Committee (ICRC) of the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People's Army.
China Foreign Ministry Spokesperson further states that "anyone without bias can see that President Duterte has made positive efforts since assuming office to combat drug-related crimes, as well as terrorism, develop the national economy, and improve people's livelihood, which have effectively protected and promoted the Philippine people's fundamental rights to security and development".

China Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Lu Kang should not speak for the Philippines. This just enrages us more. Furthermore he is not knowledgeable on the matter. He should know his place and shut up.
