The saying remains true “if a door closes, another one open.”
Last weekend the much anticipated Binibining Pilipinas
wherein young beautiful Filipinas vie for the much coveted crowns which will
make them the official representatives of the country.
But sadly, one contestant stood out among her batch and she
did not even got one of the prized crowns. It was her lack of insight to the
Duterte administration’s flagship project that made her a trending topic in the
country. *

And boy, did the government took notice.
Binibini 35, Sandra Lemonon was the first among the final 15
to be called after being picked randomly by one of the judges. Megawide
Construction Corp. chairman Edgar Saavedra’s name was the one picked by Ms.
Lemonon.
The question for her was:
"What are your
insights on the government’s Build, Build, Build program?"
Lemonon’s answer was a shock to the hard core Beauty pageant
crazy country like the Philippines, she said:
"Actually you
know what, I studied so much for this Q&A, but sadly that's something that
I don't know really much about. But at least I'm here trying to answer a good
question. Thank you."
Lemonon’s unfiltered and honest answer drew a mix reaction
from the thousands-strong audience at the Araneta Coliseum in Cubao, Quezon
City.
Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach, a co-host of that evening,
in jest said, "I love her honesty. It's better than lying."
Lemonon was interviewed by ABS CBN about what happened during
the dreaded Q&A portion of the competition, she said unconsciously it
highlighted the lack of information dissemination of the Duterte government
regarding this national policy with respect to the creation of much needed
infrastructure.
"I'm so happy that this happened," Lemonon said.
"I do not regret anything, because in the end, at least now everyone knows
what the 'Build, Build, Build' program is! I know what it is, everyone else who
didn't know what it was, now they know."

The government takes notice
Department of Public Works and Highways 'Build, Build,
Build' Committee Chairperson Anna Mae Yu Lamentillo met with Ms. Sandra Lemonon
and was briefed everything about the
Build Build Build program of the Duterte administration.
Earlier this week, the Department of Transportation (DOTr)
thanked Lemonon for inspiring them to promote the infrastructure push by the
government into a much wider audience.
The program is an ambitious infrastructure push by the
Duterte administration. Once completed, it is expected to generate 2 million
jobs annually and address crippling traffic jams that cost the Philippine
economy a staggering P2.4 billion in
daily losses, according to a Japanese study.
