Davao Mayor Inday Sara to Liberal Party : Don't irritate me or else I'll run for Senator




The fruit does not fall far from the tree, so they say.

Being one of the children of  President Rodrigo Roa Duterte seems to be a sure way of having a lime light for yourself. Moreso,  being the current mayor of the largest city in the country, succeeding the current President from a post that he has occupied for more than twenty (20) years. Safe to say you are already being groomed for a career in the political scene of the country.

Now that the former mayor - Rodrigo Duterte is now the 16th President of the Republic of the Philippines- a historic one at that coming from the island of Mindanao backed not by the usual big political parties in the country. Oppositions have made every attack against the President, has implicated things or wrongdoings to the first family, and it seems the eldest child of the President is now already pushing back.     .

Mayor Sara Duterte has warned the politicale enemies of his father not to piss her off, because she might make her mind and run for senator.

Based from the latest Social Weather Station (SWS) the mayor from Davao placed ninth (9th) among the the top 12 potential contenders in the 2019 congressional election.

“Just don’t let the enemies of PRD (President Rodrigo Duterte) annoy me, then my slot should become available to all the yellows,” the Mayor , referring to the members of the opposition Liberal Party, who are among the fiercest critics of her father.

Mayor, has indicated that this is not the first time her name was included in a list of potential senatorial candidates, she was already added in the 2012 survey list.

“Thank you to those who gave their support, but I still believe that being a responsible Davaoeño, whether in public office or as a practicing lawyer, is my contribution to nation building,” the mayor said.

“If Davao City is strong, then that is the Davaoeños’ patriotism at work,” she said.

But, Mayor Inday Sara has already quashed the rumors of her gunning  a seat in the senate, she inclined that she is more interested in taking over the post of Davao City Rep. Karlo Alexei  Nograles.   *

“I do not have plans of running [for] a national post in the 2019 elections. But I have plans of running in the first congressional district of Davao City,” she told media on the sidelines of the launching of Tapang at Malasakit Alliance for the Philippines last October.

The President has joked a couple times, that Inday Sara could succeed him as the President of the country after he steps down in 2022.
