PH will not become an ISIS stronghold- Duterte

The Philippines will not be the next Islamic State as dreamed of by the terror group.

As far as the President of the Philippines is concern- Rodrigo Roa Duterte . During the 82nd founding anniversary of the Armed Forces of the Philippines in his speech, the president vowed that the that the Philippines would not become the next hub of international terror network Islamic State. This after two months that the braved soldiers of the Armed Forces of the Philippines defeated the Maute group in Marawi City.

Isnilon Hapilon, half of the leadership of the Islamic sympathizer's Maute group, dreamed of creating in Mindanao a terror network hub for ISIS.

“This success, along with the recent neutralization of Isnilon Hapilon and his followers, further bolsters this administration’s firm thrust towards eliminating all terrorist groups in the country,” the President in his speech in Camp Aguinaldo.

“We will not allow those who subscribe to the Daesh ideology to succeed. We will never allow the Islamic State to make the Philippines its regional center,” he added.

All government efforts are now centered in rehabiliting and rebuilding Marawi City, after being  under terrorist control for almost five months.

“Although we have already begun to rebuild Marawi City and rehabilitate conflict-affected areas, our fight is far from over. We will remain vigilant as we continue our intensified military [operations] against the remaining terrorist groups,” he said.

The ISIS inspired- Maute group, led by Isnilon Hapilon and Omar Maute chose Marawi City to be the first to establish a caliphate in Southeast Asia, after the group has failed to do that in Iraq and Syria.

“Although we have already begun to rebuild Marawi City and rehabilitate conflict-affected areas, our fight is far from over. We will remain vigilant as we continue our intensified military [operations] against the remaining terrorist groups,” he said.

Early this month the joint session of Congress has granted Duterte’s request to extend martial law in Mindanao to address persistent security threats in the region despite the end of hostilities in Marawi City.
